Start Internet Explorer (Version 5 or later) and click Tools:Internet options

Click on the Programs tab. Check the box by "Internet Explorer should check to see wheter it is the default browser"

Close IE, and then restart it. You should see a dialog box like this:

Click "yes" and IE should now be your default browser.
