Setting Up Outlook 2003 for POP3 over SSL and ASMTP
If you like to use public wireless hotspots, you may want to consider using
POP over SSL and ASMTP with SSL to encrypt your email traffic over the air.
Using ASMTP also means that you don't have to change your outgoing email server
if the hotspot does not proxy SMTP.
- Open Outlook 2003 and select Tools > Email Accounts.

- Choose Add a new Email account.

- Choose POP3.

- Supply the user name and email
address assigned by Midas Networks. Then set
the Incoming mail server (POP3) and Outgoing mail server to: ns1.midasnetworks.com.

- Click on More Settings.
- Choose the Outgoing Server tab.
- Select My outgoing
server (SMTP) requires authentication and Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Note: The Test Account Settings
button should not be used, since it does not work reliably.

- Select the Advanced tab.
- Under Incoming server
(POP3): select This server requires
an encrypted connection (SSL), and make sure the box to the right of POP3 says 995.
- Under Outgoing server
(SMTP): select This server requires
an encrypted connection (SSL), and make sure the box to the
right of (SMTP): says 465.

You should now be set
up to use Outlook 2003 for POP3 over SSL and ASMTP.
