Connecting to the Midas Networks shared web servers

Midas Networks does not support FTP or WebDav to upload sites at this time due to some severe security problems with them. We recommend using WinSCP to upload your site’s pages securely. You can download WinSCP at http://winscp.vse.cz/eng/

Step 1

To get started using WinSCP start the program. Click Start:Programs:WinSCP2:WinSCP2. You should see a window similar to the one below:

Enter the webserver name, user name, and password from your Midas Networks server information sheet. When complete, click the "Login" button.

 

Step 2

If this is the first time that you’ve used WinSCP, you will see a warning like this. Click "Yes" to continue.

Step 3

If you entered the correct information, you will see a window like the one below.

The files on your computer are shown on the left, files on the webserver are shown on the right. Your site is stored in a folder in your home directory. Double click on your site folder to go into it.

 

Step 4

Using the navigation tools on the left side, go to the directory where your sitte files are stored. Select the ones that you want to upload to the site. When you have the files selected, press the "F5" button, or use the mouse and click "Copy."

Step 5

You’ll see a confirmation window similar to the following. Click "Copy" to continue.

 

Step 6

While the files are being copied, you’ll see a progress window similar to this one.

Step 7

When the files are copied, press "F10" or click "Disconnect" to log out of the webserver.

 

Step 8

Click "OK" to complete your logout.

 

Step 9

Start your web browser and go to your URL. Be sure to click "Reload" or "Refresh" to load the new versions of your pages.
