Connecting to the Midas Networks Shared Web Servers

Midas Networks does not support FTP or WebDav to upload sites at this time due to some severe security problems with them. We recommend using WinSCP to upload your site's pages securely. You can download WinSCP at http://winscp.vse.cz/eng/.

  1. To start the WinSCP program, choose Start > Programs > WinSCP2 > WinSCP2. You should see a window similar to the one below:

  2. Enter the web server name, user name, and password from your Midas Networks server information sheet. When complete, click the "Login" button.
  3. If this is the first time that you’ve used WinSCP, you will see a warning like this. Click "Yes" to continue.

If you entered the correct information, you will see a window like the one below. The files on your computer are shown on the left, files on the web server are shown on the right. Your site is stored in a folder in your home directory.

  4. Double-click your site folder to go into it.
  5. Using the navigation tools on the left side, go to the directory where your site files are stored. Select the ones that you want to upload to the site. When you have the files selected, press the "F5" button, or use the mouse and click "Copy."

  6. At the confirmation window, click "Copy" to continue.

While the files are being copied, a progress window is displayed.

  7. When the files are copied, press "F10" or click "Disconnect" to log out of the web server.

  8. Click "OK" to complete your logout.

  9. Start your web browser and go to your URL. Be sure to click "Reload" or "Refresh" to load the new versions of your pages.
